ICON+ is a subsidiary company of PLN Indonesia, which provides IT infrastructure, services and applications. ICON+ has the vision to be the key player in IT infrastructure and application company in Indonesia. ICON+ empowers their employees to think out of the box and embraces disruptive innovations.
ICON+ runs an internal innovation program, called brainware development, which participated by 25 employees. In 3 days of the workshop, on 18-20 January 2018, the participants came with a submitted innovation idea, and then the idea was incubated and tested by Innovesia. The participants learned and practiced the principles of Design Thinking mindsets, method, and applications.
In the 1st day, the participants learned how to understand and empathetic to the target customers needs, wants and jobs to be done. We sent the participants to conduct a fieldwork for interviewing and observing their target customers. In the 2nd day, we did a synthesizing exercise where we downloaded all the fieldwork documentation in order to identify what is the target customer jobs-to-be-done for our product offering. Then we taught participants to generate, select and improve creative ideas to deliver a solution that fits the customers jobs to be done. The 2nd day was ended up with prototyping exercise to visualize the ideas into a more tangible elaboration. In the 3rd day, we took the participants to explore the Business Model Canvas. The BMC helps them to explore and identify the 9 building blocks of their product offering. The results of the 3 days workshop and sprint are the ideas with prototype and business model canvas which will be presented to the Board of Directors of ICON+.
