IMERI (Indonesian Medical Education and Research Insititute) is the largest and the most advanced medical education and research institution in Indonesia and in South East Asia. IMERI is operating under the authority of the Faculty of Medicine University of Indonesia – the most reputable medical school in Indonesia. The IMERI building just been built and renovated, and it soon will be inaugurated on April 12th, 2017. As a series of events for the grand launch, IMERI conducts the 1st Healthcare Open Innovation (OI) on March 11-13th.
The 1st Open Innovation is the biggest hackathon event focusing innovation on healthcare and medical solutions in Indonesia, to answer the challenges being faced by the clusters in IMERI. It’s open for anyone from multi discipline; students, healthcare professionals, engineering, business etc to join this hackathon, and to win the total prize of Rp 50 million. The total participants reached up to 200 persons from more than 7 cities in Indonesia; Jakarta, Palembang, Malang, Surabaya, Bogor, Bandung, Jogjakarta etc. The themes are:
- Developing innovative technology in Medical Education
- Making disruptive or digital support in medical research and disruptive innovation of medical device
- Digital healthcare to improve patient care
And the expected outcomes are:
- Software, information system, apps, internet of things
- Applicable idea & product design
- Prototype or medical device
Danny Kosasih, Partner of Innovesia, was invited by the OI committee to speak and facilitate Design Thinking workshop on March 11th. The participants were excited and understand that they have to start from the right mindset to get into innovation. Design Thinking mindsets and method enable them to really understand the customers’ jobs to be done, and what is the value proposition that they want to offer as their prototype/ solution.
